SEWIC Social Care Contingency Recruitment Project

Daniels Smalley Partnership has been working on behalf of the ADSS to provide consultancy support in the development of a local authority led initiative for the recruitment of contingency social workers.

This follows the endorsement of the recommendations in “Social Work in Wales: A Profession to Value”, ADSS agreed to make a Making the Connections funding bid to take forward recommendation 15.

The aim is to drive down the cost, but also improve the quality and supply of contingency workers. The intention is that the model can be used for any section of workforce, but in the first instance focuses upon ‘posts requiring a social work qualification’.

Daniels Smalley Partnership are funded by Making the Connections to undertake research with temporary and permanent staff and, together with an operational steering group, to offer professional and business advice including immediate improvements to existing practice in order to improve supply and spend on contingency recruitment.
